“When I first came to Yummy Body, my weight had been bouncing around and I was teetering on pre-diabetes. Yummy Body is incredibly knowledgeable, very clear and straightforward in their explanations, and very accessible in between sessions. Their non-judgmental, practical, sensible approach to health is very motivating. Today I am healthier than I have ever been, including when I was a teenager.”

What is a Registered Dietitian?

A registered dietitian is very different from a nutritionist or health coach. A registered dietitian is:

  • A food and nutrition expert that has fulfilled academic and professional requirements and has earned a bachelor’s degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Coursework typically includes food and nutrition sciences, foodservice systems management, business, economics, computer science, sociology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and chemistry.
  • Completed an accredited, supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or food service corporation.
  • Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Completes annual continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

Initial consultations are typically 60 minutes. The goal at your initial appointment is for your dietitian to gain a better understanding of your goals and lifestyle, assess your current diet, and evaluate your body composition numbers. Prior to your session, your dietitian will review your questionnaire that you completed online and if you completed a 3 day food journal, she will review that with you during the session. Your dietitian may want to set some realistic long term and short term goals at this time. At the end of the session, you will leave with 2-3 practical goals that our dietitian will recommend you work on until your next follow-up appointment. Your second appointment will be scheduled at the end of the session and will usually be 2-3 weeks out.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?

You will need to bring a photo ID and your insurance card, if you plan to use your insurance.

What kind of patients do you work with?

At Yummy Body Nutrition, our dietitians are experienced and knowledgeable in many areas of nutrition. Many clients come to us because they want to learn how to eat healthier. Some people may want to lose weight, and some may want to gain weight. We see clients for medical nutrition therapy including prediabetes and diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. We also work with clients with gastrointestinal disease like crohn’s, celiac, irritable bowel syndrome, eosinophilic esophagitis, diverticulitis, and diverticulosis.

How do I know if my insurance will pay for nutrition appointments?

The best way to find out if your insurance will cover your nutrition appointments is to call your insurance. You can find this phone number on the back of your insurance card. Our office unfortunately does not perform insurance verifications and will not be able to call your insurance for you.

Please see our Insurance and Rates for more information.

Do you see couples?

Yes, we love working with couples. We recommend when booking an appointment online, to look for an open time slot with 2 hours available back to back and to add both you and your partner. Feel free to call us if you need assistance booking.
