Frequently Asked Questions:
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Initial consultations are typically 60-90 minutes.
During your initial session, your dietitian will review your pre-session questionnaire and 3 day food journal, assess your current diet, goals, and lifestyle, and assist you in setting realistic long term and short term goals.
Included in your first session, you will also be offered an InBody assessment, which is the top ranked scale for quick and accurate body composition assessment. We will use your current body composition as a progress and goal bench marker. Read more about the InBody scale here.
You will walk away from your first session with 2-3 practical goals to work on until your next follow-up appointment. Your second appointment will be scheduled at the end of the session and is typically 2-3 weeks out.
What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
You will need to bring a photo ID and your insurance card, if you plan to use your insurance.
What kind of patients do you work with?
At Yummy Body Nutrition, our dietitians are experienced and knowledgeable in many areas of nutrition. Many clients come to us because they want to learn how to eat healthier. Some people may want to lose weight, and some may want to gain weight. We see clients for medical nutrition therapy including prediabetes and diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. We also work with clients with gastrointestinal disease like crohn’s, celiac, irritable bowel syndrome, eosinophilic esophagitis, diverticulitis, and diverticulosis.
How do I know if my insurance will pay for nutrition appointments?
The best way to find out if your insurance will cover your nutrition appointments is to call your insurance. You can find this phone number on the back of your insurance card. Our office unfortunately does not perform insurance verifications and will not be able to call your insurance for you.
Do you accept FSA/HSA?
Yes, we do accept flex spending accounts and health savings accounts.
Do I have to get on a scale?
Absolutely not! Just let your dietitian know at the beginning of the session that you preferred not to be weighed. We will happily respect your wishes.
You also have the option of doing a “blind weigh”. Our dietitian will save your information in your records as a reference point and you can decide at a later date if you want to see it.
Included in all of your sessions, you will also be offered an InBody assessment, which is the top ranked scale for quick and accurate body composition assessment. We will use your current body composition as a progress and goal bench marker. You may also schedule an appointment just to be weighed. Read more about the InBody scale here.
What is a Registered Dietitian?
A registered dietitian is very different from a nutritionist or health coach. A registered dietitian is:
- A food and nutrition expert that has fulfilled academic and professional requirements and has earned a bachelor’s degree with course work approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Coursework typically includes food and nutrition sciences, foodservice systems management, business, economics, computer science, sociology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and chemistry.
- Completed an accredited, supervised practice program at a healthcare facility, community agency, or food service corporation.
- Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Completes annual continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.
What locations can I meet a Dietitian at? Is there parking?
We have two (2) office locations.
- Philadelphia – 325 Chestnut St. (8th floor) Philadelphia, PA 19106. Metered street parking is available in addition to parking garages nearby. (We recommend the Bourse Parking Garage).
- Haddonfield, NJ – 56 N Haddon Ave (lower level) Haddonfield, NJ 08033. There is a free parking lot in front of the building.
What happens if I need to reschedule my appointment?
The best way to reschedule your appointment is to log into your client portal to review your dietitian’s upcoming availability here. You may also email info@yummybodynutrition or call our office at (484) 416-1090.
